The Rotary Club of Crook County in conjunction with Horizon Broadcasting will host their annual Dollars for Scholars Radiothon on Tuesday April 1, 2014. The day-long radio broadcast (6 am to 6 pm) will air live from the Bowman Museum Building in downtown Prineville featuring local Rotarians playing song requests for listeners and reading local business advertisements for those who contribute to the Rotary Scholarship Fund. The fund benefits CrookCountyHigh School graduates who seek to further their education.
KRCO Country’s Greatest Hits – AM 690 and FM 96.9 contributes the airtime to make the Radiothon possible, as it has since 1996 when the program first aired. This year, the program will feature Horizon Broadcasting Group air personalities, Dave Clemens and Donna Britt, members of the Rotary Club of Crook County and a few surprise guests.
New to the fundraiser this year, local businesses in the 200 Block of North Main Street will participate with Rotary in a day-long “Block Party” to promote “Dollars for Scholars” in CrookCounty and benefit our students.
To date, the Rotary Dollars for Scholars program has raised over $182,000 to benefit CrookCounty students. In 2013 $13,000 was awarded to graduating seniors and college students.
